Sickle Beard (Kamahige)
|
|
Kagekiyo has disguised himself as a Buddhist pilgrim. His enemy Mihonoya Shiro, also in disguise as the blacksmith Shirobei, offers to shave Kagekiyoís beard with a sickle. He attempts to cut his throat, but the sickle is unable to make a mark on Kagekiyoís impenetrable skin. The play was revived in 1910 by Ichikawa Danshiro II and Ichikawa Ennosuke II, in a script by Takeshiba Kinsaku.
