The script has been lost, but it seems to have focused on the jealousy displayed by the spirit of Fujitsubo. Ichikawa Sansho revived it in 1936 with a script by Yamazaki Shiko. It was again revived in 1986 by Onoe Shoroku II and Tobe Ginsaku. In the absence of the original script, both versions drew upon old prints of the play.
