The Kabuki Eighteen

The 'Collection of Eighteen Kabuki Plays in the Ichikawa-style' was first drawn up and made public by Danjuro 7th in the third month of 1832 at the Ichimura-za. At this pivotal performance, Danjuro played the signature Ichikawa role of Sukeroku and announced that his son would become Danjuro VIII, while he himself took the name Ebizo.

The Kabuki Eighteen is made up of plays that were first performed by Danjuro I, Danjuro II or Danjuro IV.
