Career

1946 Born the eldest son of Ichikawa Ebizo IX (later Danjuro XI).
1953 Debuts under the name Ichikawa Natsuo in Daitoku Temple (Daitokuji) at the Kabuki-za.
1958 Performs as Ushiwakamaru and takes the name Ichikawa Shinnosuke VI.
1969 Performs as Sukeroku in Sukeroku, the Flower of Edo (Sukeroku Yukari no Edo Zakura) and Togashi in The Subscription List (Kanjincho) to mark his taking the name Ichikawa Ebizo X.
1985 Three months of special performances at the Kabuki-za mark his ascension to the name Ichikawa Danjuro XII.
1986 Named as chairman of the Japan Actors’ Association (Nihon Haiyu Kyokai).
1999 Named as chairman of the Organization for the Preservation of Kabuki (Dento Kabuki Hozonkai).
2001 Appointed to the cultural evaluation committee of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
